Q1. What is NEET UG exam pattern?

NEET UG is a pen-and-paper mode (offline) examination held by the NTA (National Testing Agency). NEET UG comprises 200 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) of which candidates are required to answer 180 questions. The question paper comprises four topics – Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology, each split into two sections (Section A comprising 35 questions and Section B with 15 questions, out of which 10 are to be attempted). The entire duration of the exam is 3 hours and 20 minutes.

Q2. How many marks NEET UG has, and how is the marking scheme?

The NEET UG marks are 720. Every correct answer fetches a +4 mark, while an incorrect answer costs -1 mark. They mark unattempted questions with 0.

Q3. In which languages is the NEET UG exam held?

The NEET UG exam offers thirteen languages: English, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. Applicants have to choose their desired language while submitting the application form.

Q4. What questions does the NEET UG exam include?

NEET UG exam includes several objective-type (MCQ) questions. The question has four options, and the candidate has to choose one of them as the correct answer. The type of question is according to the NCERT syllabus of Class 11 and 12.

Q5. Is there any sectional time limit in NEET UG?

No, NEET UG does not have a sectional time limit. One can move between sections and answer questions from any subject within the overall time limit of 3 hours and 20 minutes.

 

Q1. How do I apply for NEET UG?

Submit NEET UG applications online through the official NTA website (neet.nta.nic.in). Registration, providing personal and academic information, uploading documents (photograph, signature, category certificate, etc.), fee payment, and final submission make up the application process.

Q2. Is there offline application available for NEET UG?

Only the official NTA NEET website accepts NEET UG applications online. Offline submission is not available.

Q3. How much is the NEET UG application fee, and in what way can I pay it?

NEET UG application fees differ by category:

  • General Category – ₹1700
  • General-EWS/OBC-NCL – ₹1600
  • SC/ST/PwD/Transgender – ₹1000
  • Outside India (All Categories) – ₹9500

The fee is payable online using a credit card, debit card, net banking, UPI, or Paytm.

Q4. Can I correct my NEET UG application form after submission?

Yes, NTA offers a correction window for a short duration after the last date of application. Candidates can change name, category, date of birth, gender, and uploaded documents, but some fields (such as mobile number and email ID) might not be editable.

Q5. Can I apply for NEET UG if I am appearing for Class 12 exams?

Yes, students who are appearing for Class 12 board exams in the same year they are taking NEET UG are eligible to apply. But they should achieve the minimum qualifying marks prior to admission.

 

Q1. What is the pattern of the NEET PG exam?

NEET PG is an online computer-based test (CBT). The exam has 200 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), each with four options, of which only one is correct. The exam carries 800 marks and is to be completed in 3 hours and 30 minutes (210 minutes).

Q2. How is the score of the NEET PG exam calculated?

Correct and incorrect answers, following the marking scheme, determine the marks.

Total Score = (Number of correct answers × 4) - (Number of incorrect answers × 1)

Q3. In which language is the NEET PG exam held?

Only English is used for the NEET PG exam. The exam is not available in any other language.

Q4. How many questions are there in NEET PG?

The NEET PG exam is 200 MCQs. The questions are from the topics covered under the MBBS course.

Q5. What is the mode of the NEET PG exam?

NEET PG is an online mode (Computer-Based Test - CBT) examination at testing centers throughout India. Candidates are required to respond to the questions on a computer system.

 

Q1. How do I apply for NEET PG admission?

To apply for NEET PG admission, one has to register online on the official website of NBEMS (National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences) (nbe.edu.in). Personal and academic details follow registration, uploading of documents, fee payment, and final submission.

Q2. What are the requirements for eligibility to apply for NEET PG admission?

For being eligible to apply for NEET PG admission, candidates have to:

  • Be an MBBS graduate from a recognized medical college.
  • Have finished or be finishing their compulsory internship by the date.
  • Have a provisional/permanent registration certificate from the National Medical Commission (NMC) or State Medical Council (SMC).

Q3. What is the selection procedure after the NEET PG exam?

Following the NEET PG exam, the exam board selects candidates based on rank and percentile. The selection procedure is:

  1. Result announcement – NBE declares the NEET PG scorecard.
  2. Qualifying percentile – General candidates need to have a minimum 50th percentile, whereas SC/ST/OBC candidates need 40th percentile.
  3. Counseling & seat allocation – Candidates, according to rank, attend All India Quota (AIQ) counseling or State counseling to grab a PG seat.

Q4. Can I attend both AIQ and State Quota counseling?

Yes, the candidates are eligible to apply for both AIQ and their individual state quota counseling. However, once a candidate has accepted an AIQ seat in round 2, he/she is not eligible for subsequent rounds of state counseling.

Q5. What is the bond and service agreement for NEET PG admission?

Several states and government medical colleges demand candidates to give a service bond where they have to serve in a rural or government hospital for a certain time period after they finish their PG course. In case the candidate does not serve, they are liable to pay a penalty amount according to the bond agreement.

 

Q1. Reservation policy for admission in NEET PG?

NEET PG has the central reservation policy for AIQ seats:

  • Scheduled Caste (SC): 15%
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST): 7.5%
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL): 27% (in AIQ seats)
  • Economically Weaker Section (EWS): 10%
  • Persons with Disabilities (PwD): 5% (horizontal reservation across all categories)

A reservation policy for State Quota seats may be different for each state.

Q2. Who is eligible for OBC reservation in NEET PG?

The candidates of the Other Backward Classes–Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL) are eligible for a reservation of 27% in AIQ seats. They have to present a valid OBC-NCL certificate from an authority, as per the recent central government list.

Q3. What is the EWS reservation eligibility in NEET PG?

Candidates from Economically Weaker Section (EWS) who are not in SC, ST, or OBC categories and have a family income of less than ₹8 lakh per year are eligible for 10% reservation. They will have to produce a valid certificate of EWS as per government norms.

Q4. Is there any reservation for PwD candidates in NEET PG?

Yes, 5% seats in each category (General, SC, ST, OBC, and EWS) are reserved for Persons with Disabilities (PwD). The candidate should have a disability of 40% or above (according to the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016) and submit a valid PwD certificate got from the prescribed medical authority.

Q5. Are there any reservations in private medical colleges as well?

For the private colleges’ All India Quota (AIQ) seats, the same policy of central reservation applies. But for State Quota seats, private colleges adopt the state government’s reservation policy, which might differ from the AIQ policy.
